Great Skellig

J-16 Great Skellig--On our visit to Ireland, I painted this coastal scene with its twin islands, Skellig Michael and Little Skellig. Skellig Michael is named after the archangel, Michael. The word "Skellig" derived from the Irish word, sceilig, means splinter of stone. The ground cover was lush and colorful, a striking contrast to the soft, varied, blues in the seascape.
